Boy killed in school parking lot collision in Studio City; 5 more people hurt
STUDIO CITY — A 15-year-old boy was struck and killed by a vehicle in the parking lot of Campbell Hall School in Studio City on Wednesday while two other minors and three adults were injured.
Firefighters responded to the school in the 4500 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard around 3:10 p.m. Wednesday and found the gravely injured teen in the parking lot, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
The victim was taken to a hospital, along with his uninjured father, Humphrey said.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the 15-year-old boy died at a hospital as a result of his injuries.
Police said the boy was pinned after attempting to pass between two vehicles.
Another teenage boy, who is not believed to be related to the boy who was killed, later reported unspecified minor injuries following the collision, Humphrey said. He was evaluated at the scene but was not taken to a hospital.
Four other people — identified only as another minor and three adults — sustained unspecified non-life-threatening injuries.
“The Mayor’s Crisis Response Team is en route to offer emotional support and recovery assistance to relatives and witnesses at the scene,” Humphrey said.
Video from the scene showed what appeared to be three vehicles that had collided in the parking lot, and a canopy was erected in the space between two of the vehicles.
The collision was being investigated Wednesday afternoon by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division.
