Daytime burglary reported at Encino home on Thursday; Masked men flee with boxes

A burglary at a Encino home took place in broad daylight Thursday, July 24 on the 15700 block of Woodvale Road, police said, adding another break-in to a spate of recent burglaries in the area in recent weeks.

Police received a call just before 1 p.m. reporting a burglary and stating that a black Mercedes was fleeing the scene, with possibly 5 or 6 masked men in the vehicle, according to LAPD Officer Drake Madison. The men were seen carrying boxes.

When police arrived, the suspects were gone. Details about what was taken and at what value were not released.

The burglary is the most recent in a series of home invasions in the Encino area this month and earlier this year.

On July 14, the bodies of “American Idol” music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband Thomas Deluca, both 70, were found in their Encino residence after they were killed during a home invasion days earlier.

On Monday, July 21, two break-ins were reported in Encino, including one at the home of former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Teddi Mellencamp, where masked men hopped over two fences to try and gain entry to the residence.

Hours earlier, Encino residents met with police and the Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman to discuss crime in the area.

More than 200 residents attended the meeting.
