Ships begin arriving in San Pedro ahead of LA Fleet Week

The ships are arriving at the Port of Los Angeles for LA Fleet Week, which kicks off on Friday, May 23, and runs through Monday, May 26, with active-duty Navy and Coast Guard ship tours being offered to the public through the long holiday weekend.

The USS Carl M. Levin – an Arleigh Burke-class Aegis guided missile destroyer named for former U.S. Sen. Carl Levin, who served as chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services — was the second ship to arrive, doing so on Tuesday morning, May 20.

The Carl Levin is one of four ships that will be docked in San Pedro’s Outer Harbor for the annual Memorial Day weekend celebration.

The USS Harpers Ferry, the lead ship of its class, was the first to arrive, docking on Monday.

The Unmanned Surface Vessel Mariner was scheduled to arrive later Tuesday, while the USCGC Eagle, a Coast Guard training cutter, is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday, May 21, at Berth 50.

Free tours of the active-duty ships will available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Friday to Monday, May 23-26. Information is available at lafleetweek.com.

Attendees can access the ships through a digital queue. Entering the digital queue will require attendees to be physically within the expo and to visit getinline.lafleetweek.org to submit their names and contact details. (Note: location services must be enabled on your mobile phone.) Attendees will receive a notification and instructions when it is time to enter the shuttle line for the ship tours.
