Handcuffed woman in Raiders gear steals LAPD SUV — and gets away near Magic Castle
A suspect — decked out in Raiders gear — is on the run Tuesday after she allegedly stole a police cruiser while handcuffed in Hollywood, led officers on a brief chase, then abandoned the vehicle and eluded capture.
Officers conducting an investigation about 11:50 p.m. Monday had the suspect handcuffed in the area of Franklin and Orchid avenues, near the Magic Castle, according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman. The woman was suspected of vandalizing a Porche SUV a short time earlier at Highland and Franklin avenues, Fox11 reported.
Somehow the handcuffed suspect stole a marked police SUV and slipped away after a brief chase that ended near the intersection of Camrose Drive and Paramount Drive, in the hills above Yamashiro restaurant, police said.
Officers canvassed the area and later located the vehicle but not the suspect, according to Fox11.
The woman was described as approximately 35 years old, wearing a gray Raiders hoodie and jeans, and was last seen running away from the area where the stolen cruiser was found, according to a report from the scene.
An LAPD officer told City News Service that the suspect was still on the loose as of 7 a.m. Tuesday.
